In 1905, Elijah Shanklin McClellan and Beedie Frances (Archer) McClellan donated the southeast corner of their farm for the building of the Hill School, the Bethel Baptist Church and Tabernacle, and the Hill Community Cemetery.

Having deeded the southwest corner of his homestead to the Hill Community and having participated in the construction of the building for the new Hill School in 1905 and 1906, beginning classes in the new school building in 1907, Elijah Shanklin McClellan and Beedie Frances (Archer) McClellan probably settled into the routine followed by most of the Hill Community farmers of this era: raising kids, cattle, and chickens year round.
