The Elijah Shanklin McClellan and Robert Washington McClellan families reserved the bandstand at the Coleman City Park, to serve a Sunday basket luncheon for a reunion of McClellans in early June each year from 1971 through 2003. Lester Archer McClellan and Ana Jewel (McClellan) McMinn made all the arrangements, invitations, and tasks necessary for the 25 to 50 McClellans who would be attending the reunion. The book: “The Elijah Shanklin McClellan Family: From 13th Century Scotland to 21st Century America”, pages 116-118, contains photocopies of newspaper reports and clippings collected by Ana Jewel (McClellan) McMinn that record attendees at the reunions.
