The plow line was perpendicular to the railroad tracks. So, one set of rows would be plowed going toward the track, then turn and plow away from the track.
Plowing was hard work and the tractor was noisy. Billy was making the turn near the train tracks and didn’t hear the train approaching. When the train was right behind him the engineer blew the horn!
The horn noise scared Billy so suddenly that he almost bailed off the tractor. He caught himself with his leg over the steering wheel about to launch off the tractor.
When he turned around to look at the train there were two engineers laughing so hard they were hanging out the cab windows.
