Mary Bernelle McClellan remembers that she wanted a bicycle in September, 1931 when she was about six years old. She picked cotton to pay for her bicycle! She picked ten(10) pounds of cotton the first afternoon and she received enough money to pay for her bicycle, so, the rest of the afternoons she picked less and less cotton. . .because she had already earned the price of the bike!
